Wow, time flies. Really, where does it go?
It’s been almost a month since I performed My Brooklyn Hamlet at bang Theatre in LA and it’s that time again. (Isn’t it ironic that the name of the theatre is bang?)
My next performance is Thursday, March 12th at 8PM. I’m very excited because this production has some added features. I have the chance to showcase my mother Barbara Adelman’s award winning photography throughout the show.
The first time I displayed her work after she died was in 2006. It was part of a gorgeous art show in Sedona that focused on how violence affects people. It was incredibly moving to see the rest of the work and to honor my mother’s artistic expression at the same time. I chose two photos of a sado-masochistic couple who had been the subject of her thesis for graduate school. When she was alive I judged her choices. After she died I realized that her art expressed a side of her that I didn’t know or chose not to see and instead focused on her humanity and ability not to judge others.
