I moved to Los Angeles in October but Sedona, AZ holds a beautiful place in my heart.

Lucky me—I’m back and performing in a benefit production of The Vagina Monologues later this week.

I was first introduced to the show when I saw a celebrity production in Beverly Hills about ten years ago.

In 2005 I was cast in V-Day Flagstaff. They raised over $20,000 for their local women’s rape crisis center and I felt called to organize and co-produce the show in Sedona the next year.

I was scared to produce the show as I didn’t have any producing experience and it hadn’t been produced in Sedona before but I followed my gut and my passion to help stop violence and we were very successful.

V-Day is a global non-profit dedicated to stopping violence against women and girls.

So—what are you called to do? Is there something that you are passionate about but insecure about starting because you’ve never done it before? I want to encourage you to step out in faith. Start telling other people of your interests and you’ll be amazed at how the right people will step forward to help you and guide you.

In my case–my producing partner Mindy Mendelsohn came forward and together we helped create something wonderful and empowering and creative. Sure-there was a learning curve and we worked hard.

And it was worth it. This year will be the fourth successful production in Sedona.

Upward and Onward,

Brenda
